SYG Subgroups

These are smaller, passion-focused groups formed among the youth in order to facilitate a deeper connection through various different hobbies and activities done regularly. Below are the currently active ones that meet up twice a month, with the meet up dates announced in the beginning of each month.

If you are interesting in starting your own Subgroup, please either contact one of the SYG Board members (if applicable), or send us an Email at:

sabayouthgroup00@gmail.com

Current SYG Subgroups

  • Book Club

Breaking down and attempting to gain a deeper understanding of Islamic concepts, literature & ideas, starting with “40 Hadith” by Imam Khomeini.

  • MMA Group

Building a community of active martial arts fans, through watch parties, sparring, and understanding the deeper technical aspects of this type of sport.

  • Board Games Group

Building a stronger bond between Shia brothers through fun but technical board games. These do not include the casual board games most are accustomed to (such as Monopoly) - rather, these include much more technical, strategy-based games such as Spirit Island.

Wednesday Classes with Sheikh Salim

Have you ever wanted to expand on your current Islamic knowledge? If so, we have just the thing for you: our weekly classes held at SABA, taught by our very own Sheikh Salim!

Topics will be cycled every few weeks, which can range from introductory Islamic material to more complex topics that you may not have as much of a background on.

Please note that these classes are meant for people that are committed and are willing to attend weekly. To ensure commitment there is a small fee, which will be used to help manage the classes. If you are unable to pay this fee due to financial difficulty, please reach out to one of the class organizers (which are the admins of the WhatsApp chat linked below) and they will do their best to make the necessary accommodations for you.

If you would like to join these classes, join via the link below!
